These procedures have been explored and utilized over the past 50 years. Currently, some companies have significantly improved instrumentation to facilitate better outcomes. The benefit of minimal incision procedures, specifically bunionectomies, lesser metatarsal and digital procedures, include decreased postoperative swelling and pain, early return to shoe wear and activity, and improved healing by avoiding large, extensive incisions. Dr. Levitsky will discuss the risks and benefits of this new field of foot and ankle surgery.
